TuitionKhata

A fee ledger for independent tutors in India.

TuitionKhata is an Android app for tutors who teach small batches of students from home or a rented room. It handles the money side of that work: the monthly fees, who has paid, who has not, and the reminders and receipts that go with it — so the tutor is not keeping it in a notebook or in their head.

It runs entirely on the tutor's own phone. There is no account to create and no server holding the records.

What the app does

Google Drive backup

Why the app asks to sign in with Google. Signing in is optional and exists for one purpose: to keep a copy of the tutor's backup in their own Google Drive, so the records survive a lost or broken phone.

The app requests a single Drive permission, drive.appdata, which reaches only a hidden folder that TuitionKhata itself creates. It cannot see, open or change any other file in the user's Drive. The backup goes to the user's own account; we never receive it and cannot read it.

Nothing in the app is locked behind signing in. Backup, restore and export all work without it.

What it costs

Nothing. Every feature is free, with no advertising, no subscription and no limit on how many students a tutor keeps.

Privacy

Students, fees, payments and attendance are stored only on the tutor's phone. Nothing is collected by us, and nothing is sold or shared. The full privacy policy sets out what is stored, which permissions are asked for and why, and how to remove everything.
